Spring:
The Scarsdale Youth Softball Association (SYSA), an independent sports organization in Scarsdale, is pleased to announce our travel softball program for the upcoming Fall. Our program is designed for girls with strong interest in the sport who wish to supplement their participation in Scarsdale's in-town recreational softball/little league baseball programs with additional competitive play. Girls that participate in our program benefit from a competitive fast pitch softball experience that emphasizes skill development, game knowledge and sportsmanship. Programs are available for girls in the 3rd through 9th grades.
As in the past, our players will receive professional coaching from members of the Scarsdale High School coaching staff led by Dave Scagnelli, head coach of the Scarsdale High School varsity team and three time Section 1, League I-A Coach of the Year. Our coaches know how to teach the sport but, more importantly, they place the proper emphasis on player development and enjoyment of the game rather than on wins and losses.
We provide below a description of our programs:
1. 10U and 12U
The 10 and Under (10U) and 12 and Under (12U) teams play teams from surrounding towns with most games no more than a 20 minute drive from Scarsdale. All skill levels are welcome. The only requirement is a strong interest in the sport and a commitment to participate fully in practices and games.
Girls who are entering the 3rd grade in the fall will be offered the opportunity to participate in a skill development program run by the same professional coaches that work with our teams. The program will consist of practices and, potentially, participation in league games for those who the coaches feel are ready. In addition, 10U or 12U eligible girls that are deemed by the coaches to not be ready for league play will be offered a similar, age appropriate, skills development program.
The cost of the programs are as follows:
10U - $375
12U - $400
2. 14U/16U:
The 14 and Under (14U) and the 16 and Under (16U) teams are both tournament teams for girls that are looking for a more competitive experience. This team will play in 6 weekend long tournaments in which they will compete with teams from the tri-state area. Several of these will be home tournaments pending home field availability and most of the others will be no more than a two hour drive from Scarsdale. The cost of the program is $475.

Please note that for the Spring Season only, the Village's Recreational department requires girls 5th grade and under to register for the Recreational softball program in the Spring if they wish to play on a SYSA team.
