Registration for the Scarsdale Youth Softball Association’s (SYSA) Spring Travel Softball Teams is now open! To ensure a spot on a SYSA team, players must register by February 15, 2013. Programs are available for girls in the 3rd through 11th grades.
Girls that participate in our program benefit from a competitive fast pitch softball experience that emphasizes skill development, game knowledge and sportsmanship.
For the spring 2013 season, the 10 and Under (10U) and 12 and Under (12U) programs will offer teams tailored to different skill levels and desired competitive experience. Teams may be entered in local leagues and, if there is sufficient interest from qualified players, tournament teams will also be offered. The tournament teams will exclusively play in weekend tournaments against teams from the tri-state area. Players on these teams will have the opportunity to play against top competition but will be required to commit to being available to play for the entire weekend when tournaments are scheduled. Several of these will be home tournaments, pending home field availability, and most of the others will be no more than a two hour drive from Scarsdale. Evaluations will be held to determine team placement, including eligibility for tournament teams. (Please note that, as per Village of Scarsdale rules, girls in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades must play in the Rec. softball program in order to be eligible for a SYSA program.)
As always, the 14 and Under (14U) and 16 and Under (16U) programs will offer only tournament teams.
Subject to sufficient demand, girls who are in the 3rd grade will not be placed on a team but will be offered the opportunity to participate in a skill development program consisting of a once per week clinic.
Again this season, our players will receive professional coaching from members of the Scarsdale High School coaching staff led by Dave Scagnelli, head coach of the Scarsdale High School varsity team and three time Section 1, League I-A Coach of the Year. Our coaches know how to teach the sport but, more importantly, they place the proper emphasis on player development and enjoyment of the game rather than on wins and losses.
All 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U players will pay a base fee of $400 for the season (plus uniform costs, if applicable) and an additional surcharge of up to $150 depending on the number of girls registered and the final structure of the program. The 3rd grade clinics will cost $150.
